Social Haven in Whitby: Custom Pavilion, Outdoor Kitchen, Fireside Living & Modern Landscape Design

1.
Custom Covered Pavilion
The custom pavilion establishes a sheltered destination at the back of the property while adding strong architectural character to the landscape. Its exposed timber construction and wood ceiling introduce warmth, while the open front keeps the structure connected to the rest of the yard. Recessed lighting and a ceiling fan add practical finishing touches to the covered setting.
2. Outdoor Kitchen & Bar
A spacious outdoor kitchen turns meal preparation into part of the backyard experience. The long counter incorporates cooking and prep space while providing generous bar seating along the opposite side for guests. This arrangement allows the person cooking to remain connected to the gathering rather than being separated from it indoors.
3. Stone Fireplace & TV
Built into the pavilion, the stone fireplace creates a prominent focal point and adds another reason to spend time beneath the covered structure. A television mounted directly above it makes the area suitable for watching games, movies, or other entertainment outside. The masonry also provides a natural visual contrast against the surrounding wood construction.
4. Large Stone Patio
The expansive patio forms the foundation for much of the backyard layout, linking the house with the pavilion and surrounding activity zones. Its generous proportions leave room for furniture and circulation without making the space feel crowded. The neutral-toned pavers also provide a versatile backdrop for the darker wood, greenery, and furnishings found throughout the design.
5. Artificial Turf
A defined section of artificial turf introduces a vibrant green element between the surrounding hardscape and garden beds. Rather than serving as unused lawn space, this area becomes part of the backyard's recreational layout with seating positioned around the fire feature. Its clean edges create a crisp transition between soft-looking greenery and the adjacent patio.
6. Gas Fire Pit
A circular gas fire pit creates a separate gathering point away from the pavilion. Adirondack chairs arranged around the feature encourage conversation and give the backyard a more casual place to sit outdoors. The controlled flame provides ambience without taking attention away from the surrounding landscape.
7. Landscape Lighting
Thoughtfully positioned lighting changes the atmosphere of the backyard after sunset while highlighting important areas of the design. Fixtures along the fence illuminate the garden beds, while integrated lighting around the kitchen and pavilion adds visibility where it is needed most. Together, these elements create a warm evening setting and showcase the transformation well beyond daylight hours.
